Beit el Tawlet is based in an apartment block in Beirut’s trendy Mar Mikhael district, by far one of the best neighbourhoods in town if you want to experience Beirut’s lively side. The guest house has eight double bedrooms, in a prime location just down the road from some of the top bars and restaurants in town. The decor evokes a 70s feel, with rattan homewares and greenery everywhere, but en suite amenities are modern and the beds – piled with plump pillows – are large and extremely comfortable.
Most locals will know Beit el Tawlet because of its restaurant, Tawlet, on the ground floor. This is part of a group of restaurants created to promote traditional Lebanese cuisine and local produce, and there are several dotted all over the country. Having eaten in many restaurants all over Lebanon ourselves, we have to say that tawlets serve up the very best food we’ve had in the country, so dining here at least once is a must! You will also indulge in a delicious Lebanese breakfast each morning, included in your room rate.
