If you want to learn how to make humble Lebanese cuisine from the mountains, this is the cooking class for you. You’ll be invited into a family home and cook dinner with Samil and his mother, who run a guest house in the area and show travellers how to make traditional dishes, often vegetarian. Your guide will be there to translate as you help them prepare ingredients, and you can ask as many questions as you want about the cooking process as you move from step to step.

It’s a bit more of a rustic experience than a class at a cookery school, in that you’re more helping a family prepare dinner rather than have your own ingredients and work station, but it will just be you and Samil’s family as opposed to a group situation. When you’re done, you’ll all dine together to enjoy the fruits of your labour. This excursion is about as local as you can get!
